China’s Xiaomi Unveils Insane 1,548 HP SU7 Ultra EV Prototype

Buckle up, gearheads and tech enthusiasts, because Xiaomi, the tech giant synonymous with smartphones, has just thrown down the gauntlet in the electric vehicle (EV) arena. At the recent Lei Jun Annual Speech 2024, they unveiled the SU7 Ultra prototype, an electric hypercar that shatters performance expectations and redefines the boundaries of innovation.

Crushing Power: Xiaomi’s HyperEngine V8s Takes the Wheel

The beating heart of the SU7 Ultra is the revolutionary Xiaomi HyperEngine V8s electric motor. This engineering marvel boasts a staggering 578 horsepower, a peak torque of 635 Nm, and a mind-blowing maximum speed of 27,200 rpm. But Xiaomi doesn’t stop there. The SU7 Ultra boasts a triple-motor configuration, featuring two V8s and one V6s motor. This electrifying combination unleashes a combined output of a jaw-dropping 1,548 horsepower – surpassing even the most elite hypercars like the Bugatti Chiron.

Lightweight Champion: Carbon Fiber Keeps Things Sleek

Unleashing such power requires a worthy chassis. The SU7 Ultra sheds weight with a full suite of carbon fiber body panels. This not only looks stunning but also contributes significantly to the car’s performance. Compared to the standard SU7, the Ultra sheds a whopping 300 kg, tipping the scales at a remarkable 1,900 kg.

Unparalleled Performance: From 0 to 60 in a Blink

The combined effect of the monstrous horsepower and lightweight design translates to earth-scorching acceleration. The SU7 Ultra rockets from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 1.97 seconds, leaving even the most tuned supercars in the dust. And the party doesn’t stop there. Reaching 200 km/h takes a scant 5.96 seconds, with a top speed exceeding a mind-numbing 350 km/h.

Taming the Beast: Braking Performance to Match

Stopping power is just as crucial as raw acceleration. The SU7 Ultra features a top-of-the-line AP Racing braking system, featuring six-piston forged calipers front and aft. This ensures the car can come to a complete halt from 100 km/h in a breathtaking 25 meters.

Battery Innovation: The Kirin 2 Keeps the Power Flowing

To feed this electric beast, Xiaomi has partnered with CATL to develop the world’s first Kirin 2 battery. This 897V battery pack offers a staggering 1,330 kW of discharge power, ensuring the car maintains its electrifying performance even at lower battery levels. With a rumored 5.2C charge rate, the SU7 Ultra can be juiced up from near empty to full in under 12 minutes.

A Glimpse into the Future of Electric Vehicles

The SU7 Ultra is more than just a car; it’s a statement of intent. It showcases Xiaomi’s commitment to pushing boundaries and their potential as a major player in the high-performance EV market. While still a prototype, the SU7 Ultra has sent shockwaves through the automotive industry, raising the bar for electric hypercars. We eagerly await future developments and the possibility of seeing this electric marvel on the road.

This is just the beginning. Stay tuned for further updates on the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra and Xiaomi’s journey into the electrifying world of EVs!
